What do you do when it’s two days until Halloween and you haven’t decorated your pumpkins yet? Grab a handful of stickers and markers and go to town!
One thing about living in Florida and carving pumpkins is that they don’t last long… at all. The heat just completely gets to them and they mold fast. So this year, I waited until this week to buy the pumpkins (and got a pretty good deal since it was so late, too!). And we opted for non-carving decorations in hopes that they’ll last a bit longer.
I bought some pumpkin decorating stickers, but as you can see, they didn’t stick too well. That’s OK, I had other plans for them anyway.
I just wanted to trace around them. I had thought about painting around them and then peeling them off, but their lack of stickiness lent better to tracing.
Some of us get intense about pumpkin decorating…
One tip: while Sharpies are great for outlining on pumpkins, if you want to fill anything in, cheap dollar store permanent markers worked much better!
Looks like all that intensity paid off! That’s one cute pumpkin!
And here sits Jillian in between our “masterpieces!” Mine’s on the top left: I opted for a mustache and a green “L” on top in reference to my Luigi costume this year. Tal’s freckled face is top right. Beneath my Luigi, Jillian’s “Abraham Pumpkin Lincoln” has a top hat and some nice facial hair. And finally, Trevor’s I’m-not-sure-what shows his complete abandon of the rules… which is exactly how he likes to live life.
And that’s how you decorate pumpkins in under 30 minutes! Happy Halloween!
